Letter for Opening of School Year

Monday 23rd August

Dear Parents,

On the eve of our restart, I wanted to write to you to let you know our plans for the coming weeks. I have posted guidance in relation to Covid in the past few hours and days and this is taken directly from the Department of Education. Myself and my staff are doing all we can to operate as normally as possible but there are no guarantees going into the new term. Please familiarise yourself with the guidance either on Seesaw or the Friends of St Clare’s Facebook page.

The rising number of cases is shocking especially within our postcodes. I have been advised that the P7 ball planned for this Friday once again must be cancelled considering the breaking of bubbles and so many different households being infected. Once again I insist this is not a cancellation but only a postponement. The ball has been promised to these pupils and they will have it whenever it is safe to do so.

As I have indicated, the arrangements for pick up remain the same as last year and it is also my intention to begin Breakfast Club ad 123 Clun from Monday 6th September. No children should be waiting at the gates unattended in the morning and I ask that children are left off at 8.50am no earlier unless they are attending Breakfast Club. After school clubs will also begin in September and I will post details of this on seesaw in the coming weeks.

For now, I just want as normal a year as possible and between us all, if we work together, we should be able to achieve this. However, we will be strict with our protocols and I urge you to play your part in protecting all of us by following the advice already published. In what has been a busy night for many of you, thank you again for your support and I look forward to seeing you all next Tuesday for the half day opening of the new school term.

Best Wishes,

C. O’Doherty

Principal.
